Microsoft has made its financial results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025 public, and the figures solidify its position as one of the most robust players in the video game industry. The Xbox division has not only grown in revenue from content and services, but it has also reached 500 million active monthly users across all its platforms and devices.
This momentum has allowed it to become the number one publisher on both Xbox and PlayStation during this quarter, a milestone that reflects the success of its new multi-platform expansion strategy, beyond its own hardware.
Game Pass nearly hits $5 billion annually as content leads the business
Among the highlights of the financial report are:
- 500 million active monthly users
- Xbox is the number one publisher on both Xbox and PlayStation
- Game Pass generated nearly $5 billion in revenue over the last year
- 13% growth in Xbox content and services revenue
- Hardware revenue falls 22% year-over-year
The total revenue of the Xbox division reached $23.455 billion in fiscal year 2025, which represents an increase from $21.503 billion in 2024. Much of this growth is driven by the strength of its own titles, Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, and the integration of Activision Blizzard.
Despite the decline in console sales, Microsoft continues to reinforce its presence on external platforms and expand its digital distribution network, including the upcoming launch of its own PC stores. The company has also confirmed that the impact of its services has been consolidated, and everything points to Game Pass being one of the key economic pillars in the immediate future.
