Fortnite has kicked off a new era with the launch of Chapter 7 following the grand finale of Chapter 6, a move that comes with a revamped map and a visual boost that propels the game forward. But amidst all the new features, one stands out: you can now transform into one of the bosses scattered across the map.
The idea is simple, yet it completely flips the script on each match. It’s no longer just about scavenging for loot or controlling safe zones; it’s about taking down these special enemies to claim their abilities, which opens up new avenues of attack and defense throughout the Pacific Wave season.
How to become a boss in Fortnite Chapter 7
To get your hands on a boss’s power, you need to defeat them and pick up the medallion they drop along with their mythical weapon. This object triggers the transformation automatically and comes with some seriously potent perks: increased health, an expanded shield, and infinite energy to move around freely. The downside is obvious: you can’t drop the medallion, and you become visible on the map to nearby rivals, so taking on the role of a boss means taking risks from the get-go.
Bosses spawn randomly in specific areas of the map, just like they did in the Simpsons-inspired season. The areas where they can generate are: Mangilocuous Tides, Confidential Canyon, Peelian Swamp (west of Pitted Palms), Paws Inn (east of Wonkeeland), and Sunset Falls (south of Wonkeeland). These are hotspots where battles start from the moment you land.
For now, the season features three bosses and three medallions, each with its own advantage:
-
Bill the Human → Drops the Mythic Bow Pistol and a medallion that reduces gravity and eliminates fall damage.
-
Brutus → Leaves behind the Mythic Twin Hammers Shotguns and a medallion that automatically regenerates shields.
-
Silence → Drops the Mythic Assault Rifle Lynx and a medallion that allows for a quick burst of speed similar to special effects from previous seasons.
Combining these abilities with the new Chapter 7 map makes for more aggressive matches, and direct combat takes center stage once again. Epic Games has introduced one of the most exciting mechanics in years, and all signs point to it being a game-changer throughout the season.
