Final Fantasy VII Rebirth could potentially lose its exclusivity on PlayStation consoles in 2026. Insider NateTheHate claims that the title will be released on Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2, allowing a much wider audience to enjoy the highly anticipated continuation of Cloud’s story and beyond.
The game’s arrival on Nintendo’s new console would also serve as a great showcase to test the Switch 2 hardware’s capabilities in handling large-scale productions like Square Enix’s. For Xbox, it would mean regaining a significant part of the saga that was previously exclusive to Sony consoles.
A Logical Sequence: First Remake, Then Rebirth
The rumor makes even more sense considering that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is already announced for Xbox and Switch 2, with a release scheduled for late 2025 or early 2026. If confirmed, Rebirth would be the natural next step to continue the remake trilogy outside of the PlayStation ecosystem, completing the path that was already paved with the first installment.
For now, there is no official confirmation from Square Enix, so everything should be taken with caution. What is clear, however, is that Xbox and Switch 2 players are eagerly watching the future of the saga, hoping that in 2026, the second installment of the remake will also land on their consoles.
