Koei Tecmo has officially announced Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake, a complete reimagining of the second installment in the series known in Europe as Project Zero. The original title debuted in 2003 and is considered one of the most iconic survival horror games of its generation.
The remake is set to launch in early 2026 and will be available on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (Steam). The game will once again put players face to face with the ghosts of the cursed village, in a story where two twin sisters must survive thanks to the legendary Camera Obscura, capable of capturing spirits.
A Complete Remake to Revive One of the Greatest Survival Horror Games
- The project promises a complete overhaul, with improvements in graphics, sound, gameplay, and controls adapted to current systems. The Camera Obscura mechanic remains at the core of the experience, although modernized to offer smoother handling and additional options when facing apparitions.
