We’re moving forward in 2026, a year that promises to be one of the greatest and most intense in the video game industry, with a good number of important releases scheduled throughout the months, and we’ve already had some recently, such as Marathon or Resident Evil: Requiem.
Another highly anticipated title set to arrive at some point this year is Gears of War: E-Day, an official prequel to the first game, focusing on the early moments of the war against the Locust.
Gears of War is alive and well in 2026
The franchise is set to return after six years without a new game, with Tactics being the last to arrive on Xbox and PC in 2020, with the console version launching alongside the Xbox Series X/S.
In 2026, we won’t just have the release of Gears of War: E-Day, but also a movie and official series in the works, with news expected soon, plus an animated series created by fans, titled “Chronicles” which already has its first teaser trailer published on YouTube, looking very promising.
This is the year Gears of War turns twenty, and it’s great to see both fans and developers working on projects to celebrate milestones like this.
