Obsidian Entertainment, the development studio behind The Outer Worlds 2, confirmed that one of the biggest inspirations they used for the game was one of their own productions, the now-legendary Fallout: New Vegas. Brandon Adler, the game’s creative director, in an interview, jokingly considered that fans might be tired of hearing Fallout: New Vegas cited as an inspiration and proposed other options.
The Deus Ex titles (Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided) also played a crucial role, according to Adler, in the development of this new game, which is no small feat.
The importance of making tough decisions
The creative director mentioned the importance of the game’s mechanics in giving more weight to the decisions players make as they progress through the game’s story, generating direct consequences from those choices, with a world and story that react accordingly.
The game is set to release on October 29th of this year, and despite some controversy regarding the game’s price, fans are extremely excited for the second installment of the RPG.
