Square Enix continues to push forward with its new policy of multi-platform openness, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is the best example of this. The Japanese company has released a comparative video showcasing the PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series versions, confirming that their goal is to offer a uniform and high-quality visual experience across all current systems.

The video, although not directly comparing each version, clearly shows the technical effort of the studio to maintain the visual fidelity of the reimagined classic. From the reflections in Midgar to the detail of Cloud’s and his group’s animations, the title looks practically identical on all platforms, reflecting Square Enix’s commitment to unifying their presence beyond the PlayStation ecosystem.
Square Enix confirms its total expansion to Xbox and Switch 2
According to the company, the Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 versions will arrive on January 22, 2026, thus completing the release of the first part of the remake on all current consoles. In the case of the Switch 2 version, it will be sold in Game Key Card format, as the game’s 88 GB exceed the capacity of the physical cartridge.
With this strategy, Square Enix aims to break away from the exclusivity it had historically maintained with Sony, reinforcing its commitment to making Final Fantasy 7 Remake and its upcoming sequels available to all players, regardless of their platform. A decision that marks a new chapter in the history of the company’s most iconic RPG.
