The 30th anniversary of eFootball, formerly known as PES, was supposed to be a celebration with weight. A tribute to decades of virtual football that marked generations. But what was supposed to excite has left a bitter taste among the most loyal players, especially due to the lack of significant advances in classic modes or graphical improvements.
Konami organized a special event to commemorate this date, in which Zico, one of the greats of Brazilian football, participated to recall his time with the Japanese national team and express his pride in being part of the game’s cover. However, the protagonism of the legends has not served to compensate for the lack of real new content or an announcement that would truly spark the fans’ enthusiasm.
No Master League, no PES, and no roadmap for eFootball 5.0.0
The community has been asking for the return of the Master League, one of the most emblematic modes of the saga, but Konami has not mentioned it at all. There are also no references to the rumored “return of PES” or details about the version 5.0.0 of eFootball, which has generated even more frustration among players.
Additionally, the event has confirmed that there are no new notable licenses, beyond the incorporation of Borussia Dortmund, and the trailers presented have shown very discreet visual changes, far from what is expected for a new era of the game.
It has been announced that Wayne Rooney will arrive as a legend, with a special design for the 30th anniversary, and also the debut of Gareth Bale as part of the “Epic Legends Assemble” event, available from July 21. Konami promises that more iconic players will arrive in the coming months, all with customized designs for the occasion.
But the truth is that, beyond nostalgia and collectible cards, players are still waiting for something much more important: real playable content. And, for now, it seems that they will have to keep waiting.
