The highly anticipated arrival of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox has taken another step forward: pre-loading is now available on consoles, allowing Game Science users to start installing the title before its official release. However, what’s caught the most attention isn’t the early access itself, but the enormous amount of free space the system demands to complete the installation.
Several users have reported that, although the installation file takes up 108.79 GB, the console is requesting over 217 GB of free space to proceed. This discrepancy has caused some confusion, as it doesn’t seem to match the game’s actual size. Some point to the possibility that it’s an issue stemming from the pre-loading process, similar to what happened with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle during its initial installation hours.
A space requirement that has surprised those who have started downloading
For now, all indications are that the game needs this extra space temporarily during installation, although the final size shouldn’t exceed 110 GB on Xbox Series. Nevertheless, for those with a heavily loaded SSD, freeing up over 200 GB at once can be a real headache.
A minor glitch
Most likely, it’s a minor error that will be corrected in the coming hours, so it shouldn’t be necessary to have double the free space to install the game. This type of incident is not common on Xbox and will likely soon become a mere anecdote before its highly anticipated release.
