Electronic Arts has confirmed the permanent closure of the servers for GRID (2019), which will result in the complete disappearance of its multiplayer modes and any associated online features. The announcement is reflected on the company’s official services page, setting a specific date for the disconnection: December 19, 2025.
This move comes after EA disabled online services for several Codemasters titles in November, and it seems that this was the only recent game in the catalog that was still pending the same treatment. From the specified date, GRID will function exclusively as a single-player experience.
GRID will lose its multiplayer on December 19 across all platforms
After the closure, it will no longer be possible to access online matches, connected challenges, or other elements that rely on the servers. The campaign and local content will remain available, but the entire competitive aspect will be permanently disabled. This affects Xbox, PC, and PlayStation players equally.
It’s worth noting that GRID and its DLC were removed from the Xbox Store in 2023, so the only way to play it currently on Xbox is through a physical copy. Those who still have the game installed will be able to continue accessing its offline content without restrictions once the disconnection occurs.
The closure marks the end of support for a title that sought to recapture the classic spirit of the saga and, despite maintaining a modest player base, will no longer be able to offer online options beyond December.
