One of the major issues with competitive online play in sports games is once again under scrutiny. With EA Sports FC 26 on the horizon, Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will be implementing new measures against players who quit matches when they’re losing, a practice known as rage quitting (you’ve probably encountered a few of these players) that has been frustrating fair players for years.

These new features aim to improve the online experience from day one. Players who disconnect in the middle of a match, either voluntarily or not, will automatically concede victory to their opponent. This way, unfair situations where frustrated users ruin the progress of others who are trying to climb the ranks will be avoided.
The new disconnection rules in EA Sports FC 26
According to EA, the system will automatically award the win to the player who remains in the match. However, to prevent abuse or isolated errors, a daily limit of disconnection victories will be established. This adjustment will be fine-tuned with testing during the first few days to see how the community responds.
- Additionally, in Rush mode, a penalty system will be introduced: if a player disconnects repeatedly, their matchmaking will be affected, and they’ll have to wait longer to find a new match. A gentle but deterrent penalty.
With these changes, EA aims to make the multiplayer in FC 26 more fair and competitive, especially in modes like Division Rivals or Ultimate Team. The goal is clear: winning or losing should depend on performance, not on whether your opponent decides to quit before the final whistle.
