The summer of 2025 is leaving difficult situations for those who want to preserve their digital collection. After the controversy with Ubisoft and the #StopKillingGames movement, now another major company is at the center of the debate: Electronic Arts has removed one of its most recent titles from stores.
The disappearance has caught many players off guard, as it is a title released less than two years ago, with regular updates and still very present in tournaments and online modes. Everything points to a deliberate decision, although without official communication from the North American publisher.
EA Sports FC 24 disappears from Steam without official explanation
Without prior notice, EA Sports FC 24 is no longer available for purchase on Steam, a decision that has surprised even the most attentive followers. On the game’s page, a brief message appears: “At the request of the publisher, this product is no longer available on Steam”. The removal also seems to have extended to other digital stores, although it is still possible to access the game if it was previously purchased.
- The title was released in September 2023 and represented the first chapter after the separation between EA and FIFA. The lack of an official statement has generated all sorts of speculation among players, especially after it was learned that EA canceled over 60 old games and closed servers for classic titles a few weeks ago.
For now, all that’s left is to wait for Electronic Arts to speak out and clarify whether this move is definitive, temporary, or part of a transition to EA Sports FC 26, scheduled for September. Either way, the precedent once again puts the fragility of the digital format on the table when it is not accompanied by a clear preservation policy.
