Electronic Arts continues to adjust support for its older games, and now it’s the turn of several racing titles developed by Codemasters. The company has announced that the online servers for DiRT 3, DiRT Showdown, GRID 2, and GRID Autosport will be shut down permanently on March 16, 2026, which will mean the end of their multiplayer modes and connected features on all platforms.
The news hasn’t surprised many, as it becomes increasingly difficult to keep servers active for titles that have been on the market for over a decade. Nevertheless, it’s a blow to those who still enjoyed online competition in these classic driving games.
Offline modes will remain available
- However, unlike what will happen with other EA projects, such as Anthem, the server shutdown in Codemasters titles won’t prevent access to the main content. Players will still be able to enjoy all single-player modes, including campaigns and main events, without any restrictions.
In the case of Anthem, which is set to shut down permanently on January 12, 2026, the situation is different: the community is pushing for EA to enable an offline mode or private servers that would allow the experience to stay alive.

The end of the servers for DiRT and GRID marks the official farewell to an era in Codemasters’ driving games, although their spiritual successors will continue to be present in the series with recent releases under the EA Sports label, although Codemasters’ future remains very uncertain.
