The Dynasty Warriors saga is more alive than ever. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Dynasty Warriors Origins, released on January 17th for Xbox Series, will continue to expand with new downloadable content. Additionally, a remaster of previous installments is already in development, opening the door for the return of the classics.
During the commemorative trailer published to celebrate the franchise’s quarter-century, the company wanted to thank the community for their unconditional support over the years. And they did it with two major announcements: a new DLC for Origins is already in the works and more details will be shared soon, and a remaster of the saga is on its way, although no release date has been set yet.
A anniversary with future plans for Dynasty Warriors
The commemorative trailer reviews the history of Dynasty Warriors, from its debut on the first PlayStation to the latest installments, including Dynasty Warriors 9 and its most recent iteration with Origins. The latter, exclusive to the new generation, bets on a more action-focused approach, with massive hordes and a new protagonist that links to the legend of the Three Kingdoms.
The new content for Origins aims to expand the story and offer more playable options, maintaining the tactical action proposal on a large scale that defines the saga. On the other hand, the announced remaster could bring back some of the most beloved episodes by fans, although for now, it has not been specified which installments will be included.
We’ll have to keep an eye on Koei Tecmo’s next moves, as they have promised more announcements related to the saga throughout the year. And considering the good reception of Origins on Xbox, it wouldn’t be surprising if the future remaster also arrives on our platform.
