Almost a decade after its original release, the iconic open-world zombie title is still alive and kicking with renewed force. Dying Light has just received a major free update to celebrate the franchise’s tenth anniversary, and it’s available starting today, June 26.
This revision enhances the game’s visual and audio experience, and doesn’t require any additional paid content. It’s a comprehensive update for all existing versions, including Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation, and PC.
Dying Light Retouched is now available for free download
The patch, titled Dying Light Retouched, introduces a partial remastering effort that includes redesigned environmental textures, improved lighting, performance tweaks, and an increased draw distance. All this has been achieved by optimizing the game’s original engine to offer a more fluid and modern experience on current hardware.
- The improvement affects both Xbox Series and PlayStation and PC, and doesn’t require any additional payment or downloadable content. Simply updating the game will be enough to enjoy the new features. Another special detail is the return of the original composer, Pawel Blaszczak, who has remastered the entire soundtrack by recording it on magnetic tape, giving it a nostalgic tone that fits the project’s spirit.

Techland has confirmed that this update is just the beginning of the “Dying Light summer”, with more additional content planned for the coming weeks.
