In recent hours, new details have emerged about the future of one of the most beloved sagas in the Star Wars universe. Internal sources cited in recent documents confirm that the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is still active and in development at Mad Head Games alongside Saber Interactive, putting months of silence and doubts to rest. The project continues, although without a clear release window.
Even more interesting is what’s to come. Disney and Lucasfilm have reportedly given the green light to a full remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords, with the intention of rebuilding it from scratch and including all the content cut by Obsidian in 2004, material that players could only enjoy years later thanks to the famous “Restored Content” mod.
Remake of KOTOR II with Restored Content
According to this information, the new version of KOTOR II won’t be a simple remaster or an “expanded port”: it would be a full-fledged project, modern and designed to officially integrate events, dialogues, scenes, and missions that for two decades only existed through the community.
- The decision aligns with Lucasfilm Games’ recent strategy, which aims to revive classic hits with larger-scale projects and an updated focus for new audiences. Additionally, it puts an end to doubts about the possibility of releasing restored content separately, something that never materialized on consoles due to legal reasons.
For now, Disney and Lucasfilm haven’t announced any dates, but everything points to the saga returning to Xbox and PC with two high-caliber remakes and more ambition than ever. A piece of news that, for KOTOR fans, can mark the beginning of a new era.
