After weeks of leaks and rumors, Halo: Campaign Evolved is now a reality as of last Friday. This ambitious remake, developed under Unreal Engine 5, marks the return of the legendary title that changed the history of Xbox forever. Although, in this case, not all elements of the original will return: the competitive multiplayer mode will not be included.

Microsoft has confirmed that the project will focus entirely on the campaign experience, designed to be enjoyed solo or with friends. The title will allow co-op split-screen for two players on console, and online co-op for up to four players with cross-progression between Xbox and PC. In this way, the company is betting on a more intimate and narrative approach, rather than dividing efforts between campaign and PvP.
Halo: Campaign Evolved recovers its essence centered on the campaign
Far from being a simple remastering, the new Halo: Campaign Evolved completely rebuilds the original 2001 campaign, maintaining its classic structure but modernizing every visual and sound detail. Everything has been remade from scratch: environments, cinematics, animations, lighting, and soundtrack. The result aims to convey the same sensations as over twenty years ago, but with current technical levels.
However, Halo: Campaign Evolved does not limit itself to redoing the past: it introduces substantial innovations within its campaign. Among them, the following stand out:

Three prequel missions set before the events of the original.

Redesigned vehicles and the possibility of hijacking enemy units, including for the first time a fully pilotable Wraith.

A customizable “Skulls” system that allows modifying weapons, enemies, and environments to increase replayability.
