Denial: These two characters will finally not appear in Resident Evil Requiem Review

Dusk Golem wanted to clear up the doubts and these two main characters will not be present or have any prominence in this new installment. It was too good to be true.

Anyone who reads this and knows me a bit, is aware that the Resident Evil franchise is one of my favorite obsessions. Resident Evil Requiem is no exception. And my colleague Adrián’s final impressions of the game have taken my hype to new heights. However, insider AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, has come forward to categorically deny that we’ll see Chris Redfield or Ada Wong in this installment. The insider has been quite blunt: he never said such a thing, and according to his sources, neither of these two veterans will be present in the story, at least not in a way that’s even remotely relevant to the plot of Grace and Leon.

Dusk Golem wanted to put an end to the rumors before they got out of hand, making it clear that what’s circulating on social media is a false leak that someone tried to pin on him. According to his words, we’re in for a wild ride in the coming weeks, as it’s likely that the game will be fully leaked once advance copies start circulating. If you’re one of those who prefers to go into a game blind, my advice is to activate your spoiler shield, because things are about to get ugly.

Capcom’s most mysterious marketing campaign

What’s really getting my attention with Resident Evil Requiem is how tight-lipped Capcom is being. Dusk Golem comments that this marketing campaign is, by far, the most secretive the franchise has ever seen, surpassing even what we saw with RE7 or Village. At this point, the Japanese company is still hiding key mechanics and design decisions that are crucial to understanding how the game plays. We’ve only been shown a very specific section of the game, leaving the vast majority of the enemies that will give us goosebumps in the dark.

It’s a bold move, but it’s generating tremendous hype. We know the story takes place 30 years after the disaster, returning to the ruins of Raccoon City with Leon S. Kennedy and FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft. The fact that we still know almost nothing about the new types of enemies or how the survival mechanics have evolved says a lot about what Capcom has up its sleeve. They want the surprise to be total when we get our hands on the game.

Personally, I love this “show nothing” approach. We’re used to trailers that give away half the movie, and the fact that Capcom is resisting the urge to spill the beans gives me good vibes. We’ll have to be on high alert in the weeks leading up to the launch to avoid having the mystery ruined for us on social media. Raccoon City awaits us once again to see if we can survive this new bioterrorism outbreak.
