Xbox is ending the year with a major update focused on two key pillars: enhancing the mobile experience and elevating audio quality on PC and Windows 11 devices. The so-called Xbox December Update introduces practical innovations that impact both the daily lives of gamers and the ecosystem surrounding Xbox beyond the console.

Among the most notable changes are a new store tab in the Xbox mobile app and support for Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio on Xbox Wireless Headsets, as well as several additions to existing services like Play Anywhere and Stream Your Own Game.

New Store Tab in the Xbox Mobile App

The Xbox mobile app continues to gain momentum. After allowing purchases and Game Pass subscriptions since April, it now incorporates a dedicated Store tab, making it easier to find and acquire games, DLCs, and subscriptions directly from your mobile device.

Among the included improvements:

Xbox Wireless Headset Improves Audio with Bluetooth LE

The other major change comes in the form of a firmware update for the latest Xbox Wireless Headsets (model released in October 2024). This update adds Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio, a key technology for the present and future of wireless audio on Windows 11, PC, and portable devices like the ROG Xbox Ally.

The main advantages are clear:
