Despite being confirmed recently, on December 25, David Rosen, co-founder of Sega, left this world. In 1965, he merged his company (Rosen Enterprises) with Nihon Goraku Bussan, Ltd to create Sega Enterprises Ltd, marking the beginning of a name that would bring joy to all video game enthusiasts.
Under Rosen’s leadership, Sega became one of the leading companies in the entertainment industry, and by 1969, it had already gained recognition worldwide with slot machines and other similar gaming devices.
A Life Dedicated to Sega
By 1983, Rosen had partnered with Hayao Nakayama and Isao Okawa to purchase the Japanese part of the company, which eventually led to the creation of Sega Ltd. At that time, Rosen had left the Asian territory that had been his home since his days in the US Air Force to return to his country of origin.
Once back in the United States, Rosen was one of the driving forces behind the American division of the company, Sega of America, which he presided over for a time before becoming the director of Sega of Japan until 1996, when he finally retired and settled in Los Angeles.
