Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 is now official

The most brutal and stylized science fiction universe of recent years will return to animation very soon. CD Projekt RED has confirmed that a second series set in its popular technological dystopia is officially in production, once again in collaboration with the Japanese studio Trigger.

The new installment will be a completely independent story of 10 episodes, with no direct connection to the previous one. This time, the focus will be on a new character and a plot loaded with redemption, violence, and revenge, according to the creators. The announcement has been accompanied by a powerful phrase: “When the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”

Edgerunners 2: What We Know About the New Cyberpunk Series

• It will consist of 10 episodes, just like the first season.

• New story and new characters: it won’t be a direct sequel.

• It maintains the visual and thematic tone of Cyberpunk 2077, set in Night City.

• Once again produced by Studio Trigger, responsible for Kill la Kill and Promare.

• The CD Projekt RED team will be involved in the narrative development.

• For now, there is no exact release date, but it’s expected to be released in late 2025.

• It will be broadcast globally on Netflix, just like the original series.

The first installment of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners received multiple awards and was one of the most-watched productions of its year on Netflix, rekindling interest in the original video game. This second series aims to repeat the success with an equally intense proposal, but from another perspective.
