Pearl Abyss is quickly reacting to the launch of Crimson Desert, and has already detailed an update packed with changes that directly address one of the most criticized points by the community: controls and the feeling of playing with a controller.
In just a few days, the team has gathered opinions from players, videos, and gameplay to apply real adjustments to the gameplay. This is no minor update: in addition to improving controller response, key systems of the game have also been tweaked, from combat to progression, making it clear that the studio wants to polish the experience as soon as possible.
Crimson Desert improves controller controls and adjusts combat, progression, and performance
Patch 1.00.03 includes direct improvements to controller response, especially in basic actions like jumping, interacting, or aiming, which should translate to a more fluid experience from the start. Menus and quick access have also been optimized, reducing the feeling of stiffness that many players had pointed out.
Additionally, these are the most important changes in the patch:
- Improvements to controller controls (more response to inputs, jumping, and basic actions)
- Combat adjustments: less difficulty with certain enemies and better reaction to parries
- Increased health recovery with food and items
- New inventory storage system in camps
- More teleportation points to facilitate fast travel
- Reduced stamina consumption when blocking attacks
- Improvements to mini-games (less difficulty in archery and strength)
- Progression adjustments: accessible skills earlier and fewer requirements
- Improved visibility of objects, puzzles, and interactive elements
- Corrections to missions that prevented proper progression
- 120 Hz mode added on Xbox
- Stability, performance, and general bug fixes
On the technical side, important issues related to the interface, mission bugs, NPC behavior, and visual errors have also been resolved. Additionally, the studio has confirmed that this is not the end: they will continue to adjust both controller and keyboard and mouse controls in future updates.
The update will arrive soon on Xbox, and everything points to it being an important step to improve the overall gaming experience in its first weeks.
