The controversy surrounding Crimson Desert continues to grow, and now Pearl Abyss has decided to take a step forward. Following the community’s criticism over the past few days, the studio has released a statement clarifying its use of artificial intelligence during the game’s development.
In particular, the developers have confirmed that some AI generative tools were used in the early stages of the project, although they claim that their intention was always to replace those elements before launch.
Crimson Desert will correct AI-generated elements
According to the studio, certain 2D visual elements were created as part of an experimental phase to define the tone and atmosphere. However, some of these resources were included in the final version by mistake, which they acknowledge as an internal failure.
Pearl Abyss also admits that they did not clearly communicate this use of AI and takes responsibility for the lack of transparency. Therefore, they have apologized to players and confirmed that they are already working on a solution.
The team is conducting a thorough review of all game content and has ensured that affected elements will be replaced in upcoming patches, in addition to strengthening their internal processes to avoid similar situations in the future.
