During The Game Awards 2025, Remedy Entertainment finally cleared up all doubts and officially confirmed Control Resonant, the project that had been known internally as Control 2 for months. The name that appeared registered in Europe a few days ago was no coincidence: it was the prelude to one of the most anticipated announcements of the gala.
The Finnish studio took advantage of Geoff Keighley’s stage to present the game with a first trailer, making it clear that it’s not just a direct sequel, but a new stage within the Control universe, with a more ambitious approach and its own identity.
Control Resonant confirms the future of the Control universe
As intuited after previous registrations, Control Resonant expands the world created in the first game, maintaining its strange and oppressive tone, but betting on new ideas both in terms of gameplay and concept. Remedy has not yet entered into too many details, although it has made it clear that the project has been in development for some time and is part of its long-term strategy to expand this universe.
The choice of name is not accidental. “Resonant” fits with the central themes of Control: the supernatural, anomalies, and the influence of forces that go beyond the understandable. Additionally, the studio confirmed that the game is designed from the start for the current generation of consoles and PC, which explains the leap in ambition compared to the original title.
