Xbox continues to strengthen its global strategy and has set its sights on one of the largest and most complex markets in the world: China. According to a job posting on Microsoft’s official portal, the company is looking to hire a China Business Development Lead, a position designed to expand partnerships with game publishers and developers in the region.
The mission of this new role will be to negotiate strategic agreements with studios, both large and independent, and ensure that Microsoft’s platforms (including: Xbox Series, PC, Game Pass, and Cloud Gaming) become priority destinations for game development and publication in Asia.
China: a key part of Xbox’s global strategy
The position will be based in Shanghai, Beijing, or Shenzhen, and will involve international and local travel to consolidate relationships with industry partners. Among its responsibilities are:

Establishing and expanding agreements with Chinese publishers and studios.

Driving the ID@Xbox initiative, supporting independent developers.

Negotiating contracts that include releases on Xbox, Windows, Xbox Game Pass, and associated events.

Analyzing market opportunities in China and worldwide for new gaming-related business lines.

Coordinating the execution of Microsoft’s strategies in collaboration with teams from Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
This move shows Microsoft’s intention to improve and position Game Pass and its services in a market that represents millions of potential players. The reinforced presence in China may also open the door to collaborations with local studios that have grown in prestige and international reach in recent years.
