While much of the attention is focused on The Witcher 4 and the future Cyberpunk 2, CD Projekt RED is also working on another, much more mysterious project. This is Hadar, a new intellectual property from the studio that has just taken a significant step forward in its development.
During their latest financial conference, corresponding to the results of 2025, the company confirmed that Project Hadar has left the conceptual phase and is officially in pre-production.
A completely original new IP from CD Projekt RED
Unlike their two current major sagas, The Witcher, based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski, and Cyberpunk, inspired by the universe created by Mike Pondsmith, this new project will be a completely original IP developed entirely by CD Projekt RED.
This means that the team will have total creative freedom to build their own world, characters, and narrative without relying on previous material.
A project still in its early stages
- Although the news confirms that development is progressing, Hadar is still far from becoming a playable game. The project is in pre-production, which means that key elements such as the concept, technology, and game structure are still being defined.
Currently, much of the studio is still focused on The Witcher 4, which is the company’s main project at the moment. After that release, it is likely that many developers will move on to work on Cyberpunk 2, another of the confirmed major projects.
Therefore, Hadar will still take a long time to be shown to the public, but its existence confirms that CD Projekt RED wants to expand its catalog with new, proprietary franchises in the coming years.
