Bungie has released an extensive video over 18 minutes long focused on Marathon, offering a direct sneak peek at what players can expect during the upcoming open beta. The footage focuses on the Perimeter map, one of the scenarios included in the public testing phase.
This new look comes after the announcement of the Server Slam event and allows for a clearer idea of the pace, mobility, and tension that will mark this competitive extraction shooter.
The Marathon open beta kicks off on February 26 with Perimeter and Dire Marsh
The Server Slam will be available from February 26 to March 2 on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC, and will allow access to the Perimeter and Dire Marsh maps. During this test, players will be able to experiment with five of the six planned Runner classes.
The video also showcases elements of the progression system, including the skill tree and initial contracts linked to various factions such as CyberAcme, Traxus, MIDA, Arachne, and NuCaloric. This is a key opportunity for the community to get familiar with the mechanics before the official launch.
With this beta, Bungie aims to fine-tune the balance, test server stability, and gather direct feedback from players. If you’re interested in extraction shooters, this will be the first major open test of Marathon before its official release.
