Borderlands 4 reveals details of its final content and post-launch roadmap

Gearbox confirms free and paid expansions for the first months of Borderlands 4, including new missions, bosses and an additional Vault Hunter.

The fourth numbered installment of the Borderlands saga is getting closer to its release, and along with the excitement for the launch, Gearbox has already shared the post-launch content roadmap for the first few months. The studio promises both free and paid expansions that will expand the experience with new missions, legendary equipment, bosses, and even a new Vault Hunter arriving in 2026.

The content will kick off in September 2025 with the game’s official release and will extend throughout the first quarter of 2026. All of this is part of the commitment to keep the community active with weekly updates and periodic major expansions.

Borderlands 4 Roadmap: Everything Confirmed

• September (launch):

  • Initial content season Horrors of Karros.

  • New weekly boss “Big George”.

  • New legendary equipment, additional missions, and dynamic weather conditions.

• Bounty Pack 1 (Q4 2025):

  • New missions and main boss.

  • New legendary equipment.

  • 4 cosmetic rewards (hunter and weapon skins).

  • 1 exclusive weapon and more collectible items.

• Free Content (Q4 2025):

  • Invincible Boss! event with a high-level boss, special loot, and a new difficulty level called Vault Hunter Crazy Mode.

• Bounty Pack 2 (Q1 2026):

  • New story missions.

  • New main boss and legendary equipment.

  • Cosmetic content and additional rewards.

  • Free Pearlescent pack with new weapons.

• Story Expansion (Q1 2026):

  • Mad Elle and the Vault of the Damned.

  • New playable Vault Hunter.

  • New main and secondary missions.

  • Over 30 additional legendary items.

  • 4 new bosses and exclusive cosmetics.

• Late 2026:

  • Bounty Pack 3 and 4.

  • New Invincible Bosses and more endgame content.

With this support plan, Gearbox aims to keep the Borderlands 4 universe alive from its release, combining free weekly updates with paid expansions that will expand the story and endgame. If everything goes as promised, players will have content guaranteed for much longer than the initial launch in September.
