The highly anticipated return of the camera seekers kicks off with a “day one” patch that aims to improve performance and overall balance of the experience. Gearbox itself has confirmed that the launch update for its new shooter not only adjusts technical elements but also paves the way for content that will arrive in the extensive roadmap planned.

However, not all is good news for PC players. The studio wants to make it clear that these improvements won’t compensate for insufficient hardware, reminding that the title requires meeting the minimum requirements already announced to enjoy it smoothly.
Borderlands 4 and its launch patch on PC
Gearbox director Randy Pitchford explained on social media that “the day one patch will really do a lot of things”, but also noted that users with older PCs shouldn’t expect miracles. According to him, the game’s world is “big, ambitious, and smooth”, which requires a team that meets current standards to maintain stable performance.
The adjustments introduced in this first update include general optimizations, stability improvements, and gameplay balance changes. Still, Pitchford emphasized that “gaming PCs with old hardware are not suitable for current-gen AAA titles”, recalling that, according to internal estimates, about half of Steam users don’t meet the published minimum requirements.
The title arrives on PC and consoles with the goal of becoming a new benchmark within the saga, but Gearbox’s warning makes it clear that the PC experience will depend directly on the power of each player’s equipment.
