The hell of Hellraiser is making its way to Xbox Series with a new game that has surprised even the most loyal fans of the franchise. Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is a third-person survival horror game that promises to recapture the disturbing essence of the first films with a completely new story, created under the direct supervision of Barker himself.
The project is now official and will pit us against supernatural horrors in an oppressive and psychological environment. Through the Genesis Configuration, a new version of the iconic cube, we will experience a descent into hell with gameplay focused on exploration, puzzles, decisions, and encounters with creatures as fascinating as they are grotesque.
A new Hellraiser with original story and the return of Pinhead
In Hellraiser: Revival, we will control Aidan, a man willing to risk everything to rescue his partner Sunny from the Labyrinth, the realm of torture and pleasure ruled by the Cenobites. This shared universe with the first two films of the saga will serve as inspiration, but without following their plot to the letter. It will be a new, independent story within the same dark universe.
Clive Barker has personally supervised the development, contributing visual, thematic, and design ideas to ensure that the game maintains the identity of the saga. According to executive producer Nenad Tomic, the writer has collaborated on every step, from characters to setting, with the goal of “bringing the world of Hellraiser from the cinema to consoles with total fidelity”.
- Additionally, it has been confirmed that Doug Bradley will return to voice and play Pinhead, the iconic leader of the Cenobites, in this new incarnation of horror.
Although there is no specific release date, the team assures that we won’t have to wait as long as some might imagine:
“It’s closer than you think. We’ll have more news this year, stay tuned…”
Everything points to Hellraiser: Revival potentially arriving on Xbox Series in 2025, although it remains to be seen if it will also launch on PC or other platforms. For now, fans of visceral horror can celebrate the return of a legendary saga that promises to keep us on the edge of our seats.
