The future of Fallout could be far more ambitious than many expected. According to a new report published by Windows Central, Bethesda and Xbox have given the green light not only to Fallout 5, but also to the remakes of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, three projects that would significantly expand the franchise’s presence in the coming years.
The information comes from Jez Corden, a journalist at Windows Central and one of the most reliable voices in all things related to the Xbox ecosystem. In an article focused on Microsoft Gaming’s roadmap for 2026 and beyond, Fallout has its own section with some very attention-grabbing headlines.
Fallout 5 and two classic remakes, a bold long-term bet
- According to the report, Fallout 5 has already been internally approved, although its development is still in its early stages. This isn’t a surprise, considering Fallout 4 was released in 2015 and Bethesda Game Studios has been focused on Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI since then, leaving the post-apocalyptic saga on hold for a decade.
The most interesting aspect is that the text also suggests that the remakes of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas have received the green light. In the case of Fallout 3, this is a recurring rumor that has been circulating for years, which gains even more traction after the well-received remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. For New Vegas, the report coincides with previous leaks.
- For now, there are no release dates, confirmed studios, or technical details about these projects, and Microsoft has not made any official announcements. Nevertheless, everything points to Fallout being one of Xbox’s key strategic franchises in the coming years, with both new installments and reimaginings of its most beloved chapters.
As always in these cases, it’s best to treat the information with caution until Bethesda or Xbox make an official statement. But if the report is correct, the future of the wasteland promises to be very eventful.
