The Game Awards 2025 dropped one of those announcements that nobody saw coming, and in a matter of seconds, it became one of the biggest headlines of the night. After days of speculation fueled by a teaser shared by Geoff Keighley, Larian Studios officially confirmed the return of Divinity, one of their most iconic sagas.
The announcement took place during the gala with a cinematic trailer that cleared up all doubts: Divinity is back, although it returns without a number or subtitle, making it clear that it’s not Original Sin 3, but rather a new stage within the Divinity universe.
Divinity Returns to The Game Awards with Larian’s Biggest Game
According to Geoff Keighley himself during the presentation, this new Divinity is the largest project Larian Studios has developed to date, even surpassing Baldur’s Gate 3, the RPG that swept the gala just two years ago. A statement of intent that sets the bar very high from the start.
The trailer shown focused on setting the foundation for the world and its tone, with a spectacular setting, but without showing gameplay yet. No details were provided about the release date or the platforms it will be available on, although, based on the studio’s track record, PC is likely to be the initial platform.
With this announcement, Larian makes it clear that its future involves returning to its roots and expanding the universe that gave rise to the studio in 2002 with Divine Divinity. The Game Awards 2025 already has one of its most memorable moments, and Divinity is once again taking center stage in the Western RPG scene.
