Interest in Fallout is once again at an all-time high following the boost from the Amazon series, and this has reignited old rumors about possible remasters of some of its most iconic games. In particular, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas have been pointed out on several occasions as candidates to receive updated versions for current hardware.
However, the reality is far less immediate than many had hoped. According to information shared by Jez Corden, a journalist from Windows Central and a regular source in the Xbox environment, there are no short-term plans to release remasters of these two titles.
Fallout 5 and Fallout 76 Mark Bethesda’s Roadmap
According to this information, Bethesda is currently focusing its efforts on two very specific fronts. The first is the development of Fallout 5, a project that is still far away, but has already become a strategic priority for the company with a view to the future of the franchise.
The second pillar is the maintenance and evolution of Fallout 76, which will continue to receive content and improvements. Among the plans being considered internally is a technical update for Xbox Series, scheduled (if all goes well) for late 2026. In this scenario, Fallout 3 and New Vegas would be left out of the immediate calendar.
This does not mean that remasters are being ruled out entirely, but it does make it clear that they are not on the near horizon. For now, Bethesda seems to be betting on building the future of the saga before looking back, even though the demand to return to the Wasteland with modern improvements remains strong among Xbox players.
