The developers at Camel 101 studio have officially announced that Beneath, their new first-person shooter with Lovecraftian elements, will be coming to Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 soon. This is a single-player focused title with no online mode, which bets on atmospheric horror and intense gameplay inspired by classics of the genre.
And if that’s not enough, you can try it for free on PC thanks to a demo on Steam, available from today until August 4th, 2025. A limited-time opportunity to dive into the depths of the ocean and face unspeakable horrors head-on.
Demo available on PC and version confirmed for Xbox Series
In Beneath, we’ll put ourselves in the shoes of Noah Quinn, an experienced diver who becomes trapped in an underwater base after a failed expedition. With limited resources and surrounded by mutant creatures and an ancient threat, he’ll have to keep his cool, manage his ammo, and uncover what really lies beneath the ocean.
Among its most notable features are:
-
Constant tension and tactical combat, where every bullet counts
-
The possibility of advancing stealthily or facing enemies directly
-
Atmospheric design inspired by classics like F.E.A.R.
-
Mutant creatures, armed soldiers, and psychological dangers
-
Underwater exploration with oxygen limitations and specialized diving suits
The game is being developed with consoles in mind. On Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, a performance of 4K at 60 fps is expected, with visual improvements and support for advanced technologies like PSSR. On PS5, compatibility with adaptive triggers and haptic feedback has also been confirmed.
According to its creators: “We wanted to create a complete, narrative-driven game, like the ones from back in the day. No online, no microtransactions. Just you, your instincts, and plenty of ammo.”
Everything points to Beneath being a proposal to keep an eye on for fans of first-person horror. The free demo is already available on Steam, and as soon as the exact release date on consoles is confirmed, we’ll let you know from Generación Xbox.
