After months of leaks, speculation, and silence, Electronic Arts has made official what many already took for granted: Battlefield REDSEC, the new free Battle Royale mode in the Battlefield 6 universe, will debut this Tuesday, October 28 at 17:00 (Spanish mainland time).
This new project, developed as an independent expansion of the main title, will be available at no additional cost on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC, marking the franchise’s return to the free format after the attempt of Firestorm a few years ago.
A more tactical Battle Royale, focused on teamwork
According to EA, REDSEC (short for Redacted Sector) will seek to differentiate itself from other genre proposals with a more tactical approach, where coordination between squads will be vital. For now, leaks indicate that the mode will offer team matches of two or four players, although it is expected that more variants will arrive in future updates.
Battlefield REDSEC represents a new attempt by Electronic Arts to compete in the Battle Royale arena, this time betting on a free, multi-platform model, and fully integrated into the main Battlefield 6 ecosystem.
The launch of REDSEC will coincide with the premiere of Season 1 of Battlefield 6, so the official trailer and the first details about its maps, arsenal, and progression will be published tomorrow as well. EA promises a “spiritual reboot” of the game’s online experience, with a more dynamic pace, destructible scenarios, and shared progression elements between REDSEC and the main mode.
