The success of Battlefield 6 in 2025 has led Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios to revisit their roadmap. The result is an official delay of Season 2, accompanied by an expansion of content for Season 1, which will continue to receive updates over the coming weeks.
The decision directly affects Xbox Series players, who will see the current season extended with new activities and rewards. The goal, according to the company itself, is to gain margin to polish the content of the next stage, taking into account community feedback.
Changes to the Battlefield 6 calendar and confirmed updates
The Season 2 of Battlefield 6, initially scheduled for late January, will finally kick off on February 17th on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC. EA explains that the delay will allow for better adjustment of maps, systems, and overall balance before its release.
In the meantime, Season 1 will be expanded starting January 20th with a new update that adds additional weekly challenges and an independent progression system called Frozen Fire. From January 27th, players will be able to choose whether to progress through the traditional Battle Pass or focus on this new progression route, unlocking specific points to earn new cosmetic customization options and additional rewards.
Additionally, users with the Premium Battle Pass for Season 1 will receive extra content, including a weapons pack, experience boosters, and other exclusive items. With this move, EA aims to keep the Xbox experience active while preparing the ground for a more solid and complete Season 2.
