The anticipation for Battlefield 6 is huge, and as usually happens in these cases, some are trying to take advantage of the hype. In recent hours, supposed advertisements have begun to circulate on Reddit and other portals inviting players to sign up for a Steam beta of the new battle royale in the saga.
The problem is that these banners are completely fake. The only way to sign up for official tests is through Battlefield Labs, the registration system on the game’s official page. Any other way is an attempt at fraud.
A scam to steal accounts
The fake ads redirect to pages where the player is asked to log in with their Steam account. If they do, their credentials are compromised and they risk losing access to their profile. In other words, not only will there be no beta, but the victim could also lose their account.
EA and DICE have not yet opened public registrations for a playable test of Battlefield 6. Therefore, any banner that promises immediate access to the beta is a scam.
What to do to avoid it
-
Don’t click on suspicious links outside of EA’s official channels.
-
Remember: the only way to participate in tests is Battlefield Labs on the official website.
-
Don’t enter your credentials for Steam or any other platform on unverified pages.
With the arrival of Battlefield 6 getting closer, it’s essential to be vigilant and avoid falling for scams that seek to take advantage of players’ enthusiasm.
