Battlefield 6 aims high: it will be “the heir of Battlefield 3 and 4

The new installment of Battlefield is generating increasing interest among fans. Last Thursday, we shared our impressions that the game is total war, a before and after in the saga compared to Battlefield 2042. After several years marked by controversial decisions and launches with mixed results, EA seems determined to reclaim the throne of the multiplayer shooter with a game that looks to the past… to move forward with force.

Vince Zampella, Executive Vice President of Electronic Arts and head of the saga, has made it clear that Battlefield 6 will be a direct successor to the style that defined Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. There will be no absurd elements or extravagant skins: the focus will be on realism, strategic design, and large-scale maps.

In statements during the Friends Per Second podcast, Zampella explained the project’s direction with conviction:

We see it as the successor to Battlefield 3 and 4. There are people who have been with the saga since its beginnings, and also new talent bringing fresh ideas. We know that the DNA of Battlefield had to be present. It was crucial that we did the large-scale maps right.

The game is being developed jointly by several EA teams, including veteran studios of the franchise and new additions, with the goal of achieving a balance between tradition and innovation. This is a title that aspires to be the new reference for modern multiplayer combat, where tactics, teamwork, and environmental destruction will once again be the stars.

Battlefield 6 will be available starting October 10, 2025 on Xbox Series, PC, and PS5, with a public beta planned for this August. Although not all the contents of this test have been detailed, it is expected to include at least one of the new maps and allow players to try out the gameplay changes that will define the full experience.
