Battlefield 2042 Teams Up with Mass Effect with New Modes, Weapons and Rewards

The collaboration includes skins, themed sets and a limited-time event until July 1.

The war in Battlefield 2042 is about to expand to the stars. This week, the 8.9.0 update is launched, one of the most comprehensive to date, and introduces content inspired by Mass Effect, improvements to weapons, new modes in Portal, and event rewards. Everything will be available on Xbox from June 17 to July 1, 2025.

The collaboration with Mass Effect is the central point of the patch and will come with new cosmetic items, special challenges, and even a skin based on the iconic M8 Avenger rifle. Additionally, players will be able to participate in Conquest Ascension, a temporary mode that reinforces patrol and observation tactics with new mechanics to dominate the terrain.

Update: Mass Effect content, improvements, and new modes in Battlefield 2042

The new version brings three themed packs inspired by the BioWare saga, available through the game’s currency (BFC):

• Galactic Pack – 1750 BFC: Become a legend in the universe’s farthest reaches with this exclusive aesthetic set.

• Touched and Sunk Pack – 2000 BFC: Equip yourself with the best of the galaxy, whether in combat or celebrating victories.

• Citadel Pack – 3000 BFC: The complete pack with all Mass Effect collaboration items in one.

In addition to the packs, there are cosmetic items unlockable through progress, ideal for fans who want to pay homage to Shepard and his crew. Among them, a skin based on the M8 Avenger can be obtained by playing during the event.

The patch also introduces a new type of accessory for weapons: the reduced magazine, with fewer projectiles, but better handling and faster reload speed, ideal for those who prioritize agility and control.

Finally, new modes have been added to the Battlefield 2042 Portal: Control, Blackout, Assault Team, and Short Circuit, as well as the map Stadium for custom Conquest matches.
