Just a few weeks after the release of The Outer Worlds 2 in late October, veteran writer Chris Avellone has revealed on Xcancel that Obsidian Entertainment is already working on Avowed 2. The creative, known for his work on Pillars of Eternity and Fallout: New Vegas, shared the information while responding to a conversation about the studio’s upcoming projects.
According to him, Obsidian plans to release downloadable content for The Outer Worlds 2, but does not intend to continue the saga with a third installment for now. Instead, the team is already focused on the direct sequel to Avowed, thus reinforcing their commitment to the Eora universe and action RPGs with a fantasy setting.
Avowed 2 Aims to be the Next Big Xbox RPG
The success of Avowed has consolidated the studio as one of the pillars of the Xbox catalog in the role-playing genre. With its setting inspired by the world of Pillars of Eternity and its focus on exploration and magic, the arrival of a sequel so soon demonstrates Microsoft’s confidence in the potential of the saga.
For now, neither Obsidian nor Xbox has officially announced Avowed 2, but Avellone’s statements on Xcancel have rekindled the community’s enthusiasm, which expects to see a new technical and narrative leap in the next generation of RPGs from the brand.
