During the afternoon of January 28th, numerous players began to report severe issues accessing online matches for both titles. Constant disconnections, inability to enter rooms, and server errors were repeated across all regions, affecting both console and PC players.
The situation was quickly clarified. From Embark Studios, it was officially confirmed that ARC Raiders and The Finals were being targeted by a massive DDoS attack, which explained the prolonged instability and partial outage of online services.
Embark confirms DDoS attack on ARC Raiders and The Finals servers
Ossen, community manager for the Swedish studio, explained through social media that both games had been affected by extensive and coordinated attacks designed to overwhelm servers with an abnormal volume of requests. The technical team has been working for hours to mitigate the impact and restore service to normal.
According to the shared information, improvements are already being observed, and some servers are starting to recover, although the attack remains active and may cause further intermittent disruptions. For now, Embark has not detailed what additional measures are being taken to prevent such incidents from happening again in the short term.
In the meantime, the studio is asking for patience from the community and assures that it will continue to provide updates if there are any relevant developments. Both titles remain playable intermittently, depending on the region and the state of the servers at any given time.
