In an unusual and highly applauded decision, Lords of the Fallen has received a permanent price cut: as of today, the game will cost 29.99€ on both Xbox Series and PC, a far cry from its original prices of 69.99€ (consoles) or 59.99€ (PC).
This change is not a one-time occurrence or part of a temporary offer: it’s a definitive adjustment that’s part of a new policy by CI Games, which aims to eliminate the unjustified difference between digital and physical prices.
Lords of the Fallen and CI Games’ catalog get a permanent price reduction
The studio itself has explained this move with conviction: “Maintaining inflated prices in digital stores while physical editions drop in price is absurd. Manufacturing and distributing physical copies costs more per unit, so the current model doesn’t make sense for gamers.”
With this measure, CI Games announces a price drop across its entire catalog, which will be permanent. The goal is to offer “real value” to gamers, rather than inflating prices only to offer attractive discounts that don’t reflect the actual production costs.
The studio’s message is clear: “Fair pricing. Players first”, which translates to fair prices and the player as the top priority. A bold move that breaks with the current trend of high prices for digital releases, even months after their launch.
Lords of the Fallen, released in October 2023, has received several updates since then and is one of the most visually ambitious soulslike games of the generation. This price cut makes it a very attractive option if you missed it when it first came out.
Lords of the Fallen is now permanently $29.99 (was $69.99 console / $59.99 PC).
Keeping games full price on digital stores while physical copies drop is wrong.
