Players trying to purchase an Xbox Series X or Series S from Microsoft’s official store are being met with a common message: all consoles are out of stock. Neither the standard edition, digital models, nor refurbished Series S consoles are currently available.
The fact that the entire inventory has been depleted in the Store is raising many speculations. Many users are already wondering if this move could be related to the arrival of a new model or even the transition to the next generation of Xbox, something that the company has been preparing for months.
What does “out of stock” mean in the Xbox Store?
Currently, on the official page, all consoles appear as sold out: all consoles:
-
Xbox Series X: Galaxy Black 2TB special edition – 699.99 €
-
Xbox Series X: 1TB digital edition – 549.99 €
-
Xbox Series X: 1TB – 599.99 €
-
Xbox Series X: certified refurbishment – 519.99 €
-
Xbox Series S: 1TB – 399.99 €
-
Xbox Series S: 512GB – 349.99 €
-
Xbox Series S: certified refurbishment – 299.99 €
Although this does not confirm anything on its own, it is not common for all models to disappear from the official store at the same time. It could be a simple inventory adjustment, but it also fits with Microsoft’s usual calendar: the company has already hinted at its future plans with Xbox Next and the portable ROG Xbox Ally, which will be released in October.
The new Xbox in development
- What we know so far points to a console with hybrid architecture and a PC heart, the result of a close collaboration with AMD. Microsoft is working on translation layers that will allow Xbox games to be executed directly on Windows, without emulation, which would open the door to a device capable of moving seamlessly between the PC and console worlds. This adds to the total retrocompatibility with the current library, a key point for the generational leap not to leave anyone behind.
- In addition, the new Xbox is conceived as a universal platform, not as a single device. The idea is that your account and games are available in multiple formats: home console, PC, cloud, and even portable devices like the ROG Xbox Ally. Microsoft’s goal is clear: to build a barrier-free, flexible, and scalable ecosystem where the player has the freedom to choose how and where to play without losing access to their digital library.
In the meantime, those who want to get an Xbox Series will have to look for external distributors like Amazon, Fnac, or GAME, where some units are still available. In any case, the question is already in the air: are we on the verge of knowing the next Xbox console?
