Ninja Theory has been working quietly, but what they’re preparing for August is no simple optimization: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced will arrive on August 12 with significant technical improvements that aim for a more fluid and customizable experience, including the long-awaited 60 fps Performance Mode.

This option will be available on both Xbox Series X and PS5 and PS5 Pro, allowing players to dynamically switch between Quality and Performance modes according to their preferences. What’s interesting is that no effects have been removed, nor have visual elements been drastically cut: the studio has opted for a series of internal adjustments and optimizations that maintain the cinematic aesthetic intact.
Hellblade II Enhanced: improved animation, more stable physics, and increased fluidity on Xbox Series X
To achieve this more fluid performance, Ninja Theory has worked extensively on processor and GPU usage. They’ve made improvements to the animation system, physics, and post-processing, as well as implementing a priority system to prevent main characters from losing quality in their movements.
One of the most delicate points has been managing data streaming and the appearance of objects and characters in real-time, a task they’ve solved by assigning specific animation budgets to avoid overloading memory. Thanks to this, the game manages to maintain a stable frame rate, even in areas with the highest visual load.
Additionally, they’ve added specific adjustments for shadows, lighting, and visual effects that only activate when playing in Performance Mode. They’ve also optimized the screen refresh rate and overall engine efficiency, allowing for 60 fps without compromising visual fidelity on Xbox Series X.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced will launch on August 12 for Xbox Series, PC (Steam and Xbox), and PlayStation 5, and will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
