All Destiny 2 expansions free for a limited time: how the open access works

Just days away from the launch of Destiny’s Edge, Bungie has kicked off a very special promotion to attract both new players and veterans looking to get up to speed. It’s all about the Destiny 2 Open Access, a period where all previous expansions will be available for free on all platforms, including Xbox.

This promotion allows you to play all DLCs published so far without any cost, including The Witch Queen, Eclipse, The Final Shape, and the three episodes from last year, with full access to their campaigns, raids, incursions, and seasonal events. The only expansion excluded is Destiny’s Edge, which officially launches on July 15th.

Full Access to Destiny 2: Free Expansions until July 22nd

During this free period, all unlocked content will be tied to your account, including exotic weapons, armor, and special items. You won’t need to purchase the expansions to keep what you’ve obtained, making this opportunity an ideal way to boost your gear and discover everything the Destiny 2 universe has to offer.

• The official dates for Open Access are July 8th to July 22nd, 2025, across Xbox Series, Xbox One, PC, PS5, and PS4. To participate, simply download the game from the corresponding store and log in with your usual account.

Although a major overhaul of the equipment system is on the horizon with Destiny’s Edge, this free access period can be a great chance to wrap up pending storylines, complete past activities, or simply dive into the world of Bungie without any limitations.

Remember: items obtained during the event are yours to keep permanently, but campaign content and access to certain activities will disappear at the end of the period, unless you purchase the expansions. Make the most of it while it lasts.
