September 18th is the date set by the developers of Frostpunk 2 for its release on consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The console version of the post-apocalyptic management game, created by 11 bit studios, will feature an interface specifically designed for use with controllers, allowing players to interact with the game in a more intuitive way.
According to Igor Skibinski, production coordinator, the goal is to achieve a seamless experience without sacrificing depth and challenge that characterize the game.
Seamless experience without losing its essence
Among the new features included in the console version are a dynamic radial menu for quick interaction with resources and the ability to quickly switch between districts using the shoulder buttons. These improvements will not be exclusive to the console, as the PC version will also receive an update dedicated to controller play. This way, players will be able to enjoy a more accessible and comfortable experience, regardless of the platform they choose.
Along with the digital release, 11 bit studios has presented two physical collector’s editions, created in collaboration with Skybound Games. The Icebreaker Edition includes the full game on disc, a pop-up diorama of New London, the digital novel Warm Flesh, and a digital art book. On the other hand, the Whiteout Edition includes all the content of the Icebreaker in an LED-lit box, with an upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, an enamel metal keychain, two art postcards, stickers, and an embroidered patch to choose from the factions of the Technocrats and the Iceblood.
Frostpunk 2 aims to replicate its success on consoles, after selling over 350,000 copies in the first 10 days of release on PC. The inclusion of the game in Xbox Game Pass on the first day of its console release is an important step to reach a wider audience and offer fans an opportunity to try the game without committing to a purchase.
