Over the past few weeks, rumors have been circulating about a possible update to Red Dead Redemption 2 for next-generation consoles. However, a recent appearance on Rockstar Games’ official website points in a different direction: Grand Theft Auto IV could be the next title to receive a re-release, although not exactly as expected.
The hint doesn’t come from leakers or usual insiders, but from Rockstar’s own support page. When searching for information about GTA IV, it’s now possible to select “PlayStation 4” as one of the available platforms. This detail has caught attention because, officially, the game was never released for that console, suggesting that a new version of the title is on the way.
Rockstar might revive GTA IV before the arrival of GTA 6
For now, there’s no official announcement or confirmation on whether it would be a native adaptation, a simple emulation, or something more elaborate. But everything indicates that Rockstar has plans for GTA IV, perhaps in line with what we saw with the first Red Dead Redemption, which recently arrived on PS4 with retrocompatible support for PS5.
Although this information currently only affects Sony’s platform, it opens the door to future versions for other consoles, including Xbox, especially if it’s a multi-platform remaster or re-release. Rockstar could take advantage of this pre-launch period for GTA 6 to revive interest in one of its most memorable titles.
For now, the only thing that’s certain is that something is moving around GTA IV, and everything points to news coming soon. We’ll be keeping an eye on it and will report as soon as it’s official.
