The next Battlefield has not been officially presented with all its details, but leaks have not stopped. After the recent discovery of a supposed battle royale mode in Battlefield Next, a new, unseen video has appeared that shows its campaign for the first time.
According to the dataminers, a test version sent to selected users of Battlefield Labs included, unintentionally, playable fragments of the campaign. Although it is content in development — textures are missing, final effects are missing, and there are graphical errors — the video has been enough to confirm the presence of a campaign with spectacular sequences, something that many fans had been demanding after the exclusively multiplayer focus of previous releases.
A fragment set in a dam in Tajikistan
In the filtered sequence, part of what would be the climax of a mission set in a large dam in Tajikistan is shown. The video reflects a moment of escape, with a massive explosion that destroys the structure, followed by a chain reaction of cranes and debris. Although the material is not representative of the final product, the scale of the destruction and the staging recall the best of the saga.
The environments seem to be designed to favor directed action, with multiple visual scripts that mark the rhythm of the escape. Some key elements, such as the fall of a giant crane or the progressive collapse of the infrastructure, are examples of how Battlefield Next will bet on missions with a high visual impact and more guided gameplay in its campaign.
A campaign that returns after years of absence
Since Battlefield V, the saga had left aside a traditional campaign. With Battlefield 2042, it was completely eliminated, which generated criticism even among the most loyal fans. That’s why the return of a story for a single player can mark an important turn for EA and DICE, which seem to want to reconnect with a part of the public that seeks cinematic experiences, in addition to the classic online war.
Although there is no official information on how many missions it will include or its duration, everything points to Battlefield Next returning to bet on the big moments, something that defined releases like Battlefield 3 or Battlefield 4. So far, Electronic Arts has not commented on this leak, and it is unknown if the complete campaign will form part of the launch or if it will be a later addition. However, the filtered content continues to add interest around a title that could be revealed in its entirety in the coming months.
If what is seen in this mission represents the general tone of the campaign, Battlefield Next could be one of the most spectacular FPS in the near future. Will this be the triumphant return that the saga needs?
