Three Fields Entertainment, the small studio behind Wreckreation, has announced one of the toughest moments in its history. After twelve years of activity, its founder has announced that the entire team has been put on notice of dismissal due to the impossibility of maintaining the studio’s activity.
The situation comes after a particularly complicated year. Although Wreckreation was released to the market and the team has worked tirelessly on updates, improvements, and listening to the community, the studio will not receive revenue from game sales “in the foreseeable future”. According to them, they have had to self-finance for most of the year, including all post-launch content.
No publisher support and no income to move forward
The statement is straightforward: Three Fields cannot maintain its current structure without financial support. The studio claims that its publisher has shown no interest or financial support to continue development, forcing them to make a decision that its founder describes as “incredibly painful“.
The message also reveals something particularly sad: the team had updates, new features, and multiple creative ideas already in development, some of which were publicly shown in a video they shared today. These were contents that, according to them, could have continued to strengthen Wreckreation and expand its community.
Hope, although minimal, and one last confirmed update
Despite the difficult moment, the studio maintains a small thread of hope. By publicly showcasing the work they had in progress, they hope that “someone out there will see the potential” and an opportunity may arise to save the project. However, they also admit that this may not happen.
- As a final gesture towards the community, they have confirmed that, at their own expense, they will release one last update before Christmas. This will include the crossplay feature, one of the most repeated requests from players.
Three Fields closes its message by thanking the support received over the years and acknowledging the dedication of the team that has given life to the project. The future of the studio and Wreckreation is uncertain, but its founder wanted to make it clear that he still believes in the talent of his team and the potential of the game they created.
