The presentation of Control Resonant has left a great impression on Remedy fans, especially with the return of familiar characters from the Control universe. However, not all news has been equally well received by the community.
In recent hours, Thomas Puha, Remedy’s director of communication, has confirmed a piece of information that’s generating significant debate on social media: the 48-hour early access included in certain editions of the game will be exclusive to PlayStation 5.
Xbox players won’t have early access to Control Resonant
The clarification came after a fan directly asked Puha if the 48 hours of early access would also be available on Xbox. The response was brief and direct: no. This means that those who buy the game on Xbox will pay the same price as PlayStation users, but won’t be able to access the content early if they opt for an edition that includes this perk.
The decision has sparked divided reactions. While some players consider it a common commercial incentive in the industry, others question why a feature included in the same edition of the game isn’t available on all platforms where it’s sold.
Beyond this controversy, Control Resonant remains one of Remedy’s most anticipated projects. The Finnish studio continues to expand the connected universe of Control, Alan Wake, and other proprietary titles, a strategy that has sparked enormous interest among fans in recent years.
For now, Remedy hasn’t explained the reasons behind this temporary exclusivity, although everything points to it being part of a specific promotional agreement with PlayStation. Meanwhile, Xbox players will have to settle for waiting for the official release to start their adventure in the new chapter of the Control universe, and on top of that, they’ll have to pay the same price; it’s laughable.
Yes.
